Orbital alpha Mission 2027

General Datum has announced MISSION 2027, an ambitious initiative aimed at developing ORBITAL ALPHA™, the company’s planned alpha particle irradiation platform designed to advance nuclear research in space. The mission represents a significant step toward strengthening India’s indigenous capabilities in space science, radiation research, and advanced aerospace technologies.

As the global space industry moves toward longer-duration missions, commercial space stations, lunar exploration, and deep-space travel, understanding the effects of radiation on materials, electronics, and biological systems has become increasingly important. MISSION 2027 is intended to address these challenges by enabling controlled radiation experiments in the unique environment of space.
